The first winners of the MI Shot to Win sweepstakes have been announced. Governor Gretchen Whitmer urged everyone who isn’t vaccinated against COVID-19 to talk with their doctors about the shots before the first four $50,000 winners were revealed Wednesday. The winner for July 1 was Amber Berger of New Baltimore.
“I got my COVID vaccine on July 1 at Henry Ford Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan, and I got it for a couple of different reasons,” Berger said. “One of them is because I wanted to go on vacation, and to also help keep everyone safe.”
They’re giving out a $50,000 prize for each day in July. The July 2 winner was a Southfield woman, the July 3 winner was a Detroit man, and the winner for July 4 was a retired Wyoming, Michigan woman. To date, more than a million Michiganders have entered the sweepstakes with 66,000 young residents signed up for the scholarship drawing.
