The annual Michigan State Police Stuff a Blue Goose item drive will be this weekend. The agency seeks to fill up as many Blue Geese, or MSP patrol cars, as it can for local non-profits. The items collected will be given to Mosaic’s Wonderland Toy Store, Helping Hands of Cass County, and Red Bud Area Ministries. Helping Hands Director Mary Tompi tells WSJM News they provide food and clothing to those in need, and this year has been busy.

“It’s been a challenging year, it’s been a strange year,” Tompi said. “We’ve still been able to be here for the community. We had to close the thrift store there for a while, but the pantry remained open, and we saw a steady flow of people needing food that have never needed food before, but they lost their jobs due to COVID and stayed in the community to get some help.”

Tompi says the support Helping Hands will get from Stuff a Blue Goose is appreciated. Michigan State Police will be at the Niles Walmart and the Stevensville Meijer this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. collecting items. Everyone is invited to stop by and make a donation.
