The city of South Haven says access to South Beach via Erie Street will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, May 4, as part of the 2026 spring paving program.

The city says construction will include stormwater improvements and full road reconstruction along Erie Street between South Beach and Monroe Boulevard. Additional paving work will also take place in areas west of Maple Street and north of Aylworth Avenue.

The department of public works says Erie Street will remain closed throughout the construction period. Once the road is rebuilt to grade, crews will complete paving on Erie Street as well as the surrounding project areas.

The project is expected to be completed by June 16. The city says a separate update will be released as paving work progresses.
