Lincoln Township and St. Joseph Township have reached a settlement agreement in the ongoing Maiden Lane sewer lawsuit.

The Lincoln Township Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to accept a settlement, and now the two townships say the deal is done.

Leaders from both communities say the agreement represents a balanced resolution that supports the interests of each while setting the stage for future cooperation. The settlement also clears the way for negotiations on a new 30-year sewer agreement.

Lincoln Charter Township Supervisor Glenn Youngstedt says the township board is pleased with the settlement with its neighbors, adding a new “sewer agreement will bring stability and benefit both communities for both current residents and future development.”

St. Joseph Charter Township Manager Denise Cook called the settlement a positive foundation for continued collaboration. She says, “Through open communication and a shared commitment to our residents, we look forward to continued cooperation between the two communities.”

The township supervisors signed the agreement Wednesday.
