Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist will be honored with the John Lewis “Good Trouble” Award during the Michigan Black Summit Gala in Benton Harbor this weekend.
Summit organizers say the Good Trouble Award, named in honor of the late Congressman John Lewis, recognizes leaders who demonstrate moral courage, principled leadership, and an unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and civil rights. The summit says Gilchrist’s record of public service reflects those values.
Michigan Black Summit Chair Trenton Bowens says, “Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist embodies the spirit of John Lewis by leading with integrity, courage, and purpose.”
The gala will be Saturday. It started Friday. Gilchrist is scheduled to attend.
