Dozens of Red Cross volunteers from Michigan are in the south, jumping into action because of Hurricane Milton.
Fred West mans an emergency response vehicle and told Michigan News Network more about what he’s been doing.
“I started in Tallahassee, but now I’ve moved down to Tampa and my mission has changed considerably to organizing what’s called ERVs and MERVs to where we’re loading up supplies and we’re doing a pre-setup so that after Milton hits, that we’re going to be right out there in the community, ready to go,” West said.
West has been in Florida since Helene hit more than a week ago. He says the devastation from that storm is just unbelievable.
