A new legislative session is scheduled to start next week at the state Capitol.

Republican state Representative Mike Harris of Waterford is hoping to see more bipartisanship while there is a 54-54 tie in the House.

“I’d like to actually see, now that we’re at 54-54 in the House, that we can actually do some bipartisan work and get something accomplished instead of pushing a really polarized agenda,” Harris said.

Harris says he’s not sure that will happen since it is a presidential election year.

The two open House seats will be filled during special elections on April 16.
