Michigan State Police in Niles are planning a special holiday get together this weekend.

Trooper Holly Higgs with the Niles post says they’re welcoming the community to the post on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon to meet Santa.

“We are going to be hosting Santa Claus,” Higgs said. “All the kids can see Santa Claus. Dunkin’ Donuts in Niles has donated a bunch of donuts for us to give out to the community, and every child who comes is going to receive a gift and interact with police officers.”

Higgs says the post held the same event last year and it was a big success. She says state police hold it to give the community a chance to interact with them in a relaxed, cheerful setting.

Everyone’s invited to stop by.
