A workshop is set for this month for the community to learn more about the Project Need Foundation in Benton Harbor and its work to promote the Benton Harbor Justice 40 Plan.

City commissioners this week heard the Project Need Foundation works to improve the community and the event this month will provide a new opportunity to do so.

“The Project Need Foundation has been behind initiatives quietly, although the work has been consistently done, working toward creating a cleaner community and overall environment for residents of Benton Harbor.”

The Justice 40 initiative is a Biden administration plan to ensure 40% of the overall benefits of federal investments to fight climate change flow to disadvantaged communities that are marginalized, underserved, and overburdened by pollution. Benton Harbor Assistant City Manager Alex Little said commissioners this month can learn more.

“To try to expand opportunities in the city and benefit from the Justice 40 initiatives that are becoming available to us,” Little said.

The Justice 40 workshop will be December 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Crystal Star Square in Benton Harbor.

The Michigan Sustainable Business Forum has been working with the city to seek investments from the Justice 40 initiative. Their goal is to improve the environment, water, food availability, and access to broadband.
