An Edwardsburg man is dead following a motorcycle crash in New Buffalo Township Monday
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says the crash was discovered around 9:30 p.m. at the T-intersection of US-12 and Red Arrow Highway.
An off-duty deputy happened to spot a motorcycle on its side next to a parking lot, well off the roadway. He phoned it in, and an on-duty deputy responded. He found a downed rider in a grassy area nearby and began life saving measures, but they were not successful.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s believed the motorcyclist struck a sign on the side of the road. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Accident Investigation Unit is conducting a review of the scene to determine exactly what happened.
The motorcyclist has been identified as 45-year-old Michael Thomas Nowicki.
