Lincoln Township is about to start work on two new pickleball courts at Township Park. At a meeting of the Lincoln Township Board of Trustees this past week, Scott Smith with Lincoln Township Pickleball pitched some ideas for organized play at the existing two courts. With two new ones coming, he told us there will be more opportunities.
“More players are going to come,” Smith said. “The YMCA had training sessions this last winter, and we’ve had like 90 brand new people who wanted to learn how to play pickleball. If half of them come on a regular basis, that’s just more demand for pickleball courts.”
Anyone interested in joining his organization can head to Township Park at 9 a.m. or 5 p.m. on a day when the temperature is above 50. Meanwhile, trustees Tuesday also heard from elementary teacher Tesa Lee, who proposed renting out the pavilion at Township Park for Mrs. Lee’s Kids Camp this year. It’s previously been held at Stewart Elementary School. Lee said there will be a variety of things for the kids to do with two camps this summer. Trustees were enthusiastic about her plans, and she’s now working with the township on an arrangement.
