The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the number of new COVID-19 cases continues to drop on a weekly basis. There were 5,799 new cases last week for an average of 828 a day. The number of deaths from coronavirus was 119. Over three-million people have been sickened by COVID-19 since March 2020, and 41,809 have died. The weekly average for new cases was the lowest since the summer of 2021.
