After a delay, dredging could begin in St. Joseph Tuesday. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced last week dredging would begin soon in St. Joseph and then move on to South Haven this week. However, St. Joe City Manager John Hodgson told WSJM News on Monday the weather caused a delay.
“Our understand is as of this morning, the dredge company was planning on setting up tomorrow morning and beginning to pump tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting,” Hodgson said.
The work was scheduled to start Sunday, but the weather delayed it. That’s after the dredging was previously delayed from earlier in the summer due to a shift in priorities. Hodgson said the barge is in town and the work should finally begin Tuesday.
