Marking its 25th year, South Haven Area Emergency Services says they have made some improvements. Speaking to the South Haven City Council, executive director Brandon Hinz says they received delivery of its new Rescue One vehicle and placed an order for a new ambulance. They also upgraded their communication equipment.
“We purchased 18 new dual-band radios to improve communications with police, an other step toward better communications for water-related rescues,” says Hinz. “We currently operate off a VHF frequency in the county; the police operate off an 800 digital frequency. These radios will let us talk back and forth a lot easier than we are able to now.”
Hinz says they only had three of their 16 full time staff that had COVID-19 last year. They had 2,592 responses compared to their previous record from 2020 of 2,358.
