
The city of Benton Harbor is in line to receive nearly $400,000 in federal funding this year to help improve housing, living conditions, and economic opportunities for those with low and moderate incomes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant program.
Congressman Bill Huizenga announced this week Benton Harbor will receive $388,000 for Fiscal Year 2026. He says the investment will help expand housing affordability and support community development efforts in the community.
The city of Benton Harbor is one of two Berrien County communities that receives direct CDBG support, with the other being Niles. Benton Harbor uses the CDBG dollars for a variety of projects, including helping residents with home repairs.
Huizenga also noted the state of Michigan has received a direct allocation of nearly $34 million for CBDG.
