Kenley Jansen got his 479th save, moving past Lee Smith for sole possession of third place on the career list, and the Detroit Tigers rallied from an eighth-inning deficit to beat the Kansas City Royals 2-1 for their fourth straight win. Jansen allowed a leadoff single to Lane Thomas, who stole second, then advanced to third on Salvador Perez’s groundout. Vinnie Pasquantino grounded out, with Thomas holding at third, and Jansen retired Starling Marte on a flyout for his third save this season. Only Mariano Rivera with 652 and Trevor Hoffman with 601 have more saves.

Carson Kelly hit a three-run homer, Colin Rea pitched six strong innings and the Chicago Cubs rallied to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 10-4 on Tuesday night. Nico Hoerner and Alex Bregman each had three RBIs for the Cubs. Edmundo Sosa homered for the Phillies. Chicago broke a 3-all tie with four runs in the sixth inning off Tim Mayza (0-1). NFL – NFL reporter Russini resigns from job after photos published of her with Vrabel
NFL reporter Dianna Russini has resigned from The Athletic less than a week after published photos of her and New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel at an Arizona resort prompted an internal investigation at The New York Times-owned sports outlet. The New York Post last week published the photos of Vrabel and Russini at the Sedona hotel and said they were taken before the NFL owners meetings that began in Phoenix on March 29. Russini joined The Athletic in 2023 after nearly a decade at ESPN, where she held various roles, including SportsCenter anchor, NFL analyst and insider. She hosted a podcast for The Athletic and made appearances on their video platform.
NCAAFB – Ex-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore gets probation
Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore has been placed on probation for 18 months for a confrontation with his executive assistant soon after he was fired for having an inappropriate relationship with her. Moore was sentenced Tuesday. He pleaded no contest in March to trespassing and malicious use of a telecom device. The maximum possible penalty was six months in jail, though Moore had no previous criminal record. Moore was fired on Dec. 10 and was accused that same day of confronting the woman with whom he had been having an affair and blaming her for his firing.
NCAAFB – Iowas gets probation for recruiting Michigan QB McNamara
Iowa will be placed on probation for one year, pay a self-imposed fine of $25,000 and is vacating four 2023 wins as part of the resolution to an NCAA infractions case stemming from the recruitment of former quarterback Cade McNamara. The NCAA found that tampering violations occurred in 2022 when coach Kirk Ferentz and assistant Jon Budmayr had impermissible contacts with McNamara when he was enrolled at Michigan and had not entered the transfer portal. Iowa previously suspended Ferentz and Budmayr from the team’s 2024 opener against Illinois State.
