Buchanan Tree Friends is looking for some new board members.

The organization says it invites community members passionate about trees, the environment, and the future of Buchanan to apply for open positions on its volunteer board of directors.

The BTF is a city of Buchanan committee that reports to the city commission through the planning commission. Its board provides leadership and governance for the organization and advances its mission, which is “To grow a thriving environment for trees in Buchanan through advocacy, conservation, and education.”

Buchanan Tree Friends says its board members guide the group through strategic planning, financial oversight, community outreach, and resource development. Board service typically requires five to eight hours per month, including attending board and committee meetings, taking part in special projects, and involvement in tree plantings, maintenance activities, and fundraising efforts.

Anyone interested in serving should apply through the city of Buchanan’s website.
