Berrien County Administrator Brian Dissette is being thanked by county commissioners for his roughly five years on the job as he prepares to move on.
Dissette announced this week he’s taken a position as the Ottawa County Deputy Administrator, effective February 2. He thanked Berrien County Commissioners on Thursday.
“Thank you for the opportunity,” Dissette said. “It has been a pleasure to work for you. I will absolutely spend the coming weeks trying to get any and everything done that you need done. But with sincerity, thank you for the opportunity to be here. And it has been a pleasure. I cannot believe how fast the time flies.”
Dissette came to Berrien County in 2020 from South Haven, where he was the city manager. Board Chair Mac Elliott said and Dissette’s decision is the right move for him.
“With family considerations and proximity to home, it just makes sense,” Elliott said. “ Timing is everything. And when opportunities appear, you have to sort of seize the day. Just know that you’ll be missed.”
Berrien County Undersheriff Greg Sanders also thanked Dissette, telling commissioners the administrator was always receptive to his department’s needs. He added Dissette will be missed.
The Berrien County Board of Commissioners did not discuss the search for his replacement at Thursday’s meeting.
