The Berrien County GOP is planning a forum with several candidates for statewide office this month.

Party Secretary Victory Woodall tells us “The Big Fix in ’26” will take place on Saturday, January 24 at Lehman’s Brewery and Farmhouse in Buchanan with three candidates for Michigan Secretary of State and two candidates for Michigan Attorney General.

The primary target audience for this is our precinct delegates, as they are the ones with the responsibility of nominating the Republican attorney general and secretary of state candidates at our convention in Novi at the end of March,” Woodall said. “So we wanted to give all of our precinct delegates the opportunity to meet all the candidates.”

The secretary of state candidates are Amanda Love, Monica Yatooma, and Anthony Forlini. The attorney general candidates are Doug Lloyd and Kevin Kijewki. The event’s moderators will be state Senator Jonathan Lindsey and state Representative Brad Paquette. Woodall says the party is excited to shine a light on the secretary of state candidates, in particular.

There was a lot of things that sowed a lot of distrust in our elections under Jocelyn Benson. So we have three candidates for secretary of state that are really interested in restoring that trust in elections and hopefully implementing policies and helping change legislation so that Michiganders can trust our elections again.”

The Berrien County GOP will also hold a straw poll as part of the program.

I think it gives the candidates a good idea of where they’re standing. So maybe they need to improve something. Maybe they need to change their messaging a little bit so they’re effectively conveying their beliefs and what they bring to the table. And I think it really helps the candidates process their messaging and things like that going forward.”

Woodall says the party tries to hold a straw poll at many of its events.

Funds raised from ticket sales for The Big Fix in ’26 will help pay for Berrien County GOP administrative costs. Woodall says the day will also include complimentary pulled pork, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar.

Tickets to The Big Fix in’26 are available now for anyone interested.
