A Van Buren County man is facing 350 counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a felony after an investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police.
The sheriff’s department says police searched a home in the 37,000 block of County Road 665 in Waverly Township on Wednesday morning as a result of an investigation by its Computer Crimes Unit. The investigation started with a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and centered around what’s commonly known as child pornography.
During the search, the 35-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the Van Buren County Jail.
The sheriff says the search turned up several electronic devices, and police were able to determine that the suspect “was downloading illicit child pornography images on the internet and had them saved within an internet storage account.” Also, police say the suspect was found to be in possession of images of child sexual abuse and online conversations with juveniles on his electronic devices.
The suspect’s name hasn’t yet been released, and the sheriff’s department says the investigation is ongoing.
