Cass County will have to find a new county administrator because Matthew Newton has resigned.
The Cass County Board of Commissioners announced this week Newton is stepping down, with his last day to be next Tuesday, December 24. In a letter to county staff, Newton said he’s looking forward to the future, which he said is bright in Cass County.
The county commission has appointed county Finance Director Jennifer Rentfrow to serve as interim county administrator while it searches for Newton’s replacement. He was appointed in 2022.
