The Berrien County Republican Party is planning a major gathering for this month, and the public is invited.
Party Secretary Victory Woodall tells us MAGA Saturday: Candidate Forums will feature an all-star panel of moderators who will question Republican candidates in several August primary races. It will be an all-day event.
“This is something that has never been done around here before,” Woodall said. “We’ll have all of your Republican candidates that are up on August six for a vote on stage and they will be answering questions. So you’ll really have an opportunity to find out where they stand on the and you’ll have a better opportunity to make an informed decision.”
Woodall says they’ll have candidates for treasurer, drain commissioner, sheriff, and county commission in Berrien County. They’ll also have state House candidates and at least one candidate for U.S. Senate.
“We’re making America great again by offering candidates this transparency that really has never been done before in this area.”
The event will be held at the St. Joseph Kickers Club in Berrien Springs on June 29. Doors open at 2 p.m. and the event starts at 3 p.m. It will run until 9 p.m. with a break for lunch. Woodall says tickets are available now at $15 for general admission and $30 for VIP reserved seats.
Woodall says the event has been planned for several months as county GOP leaders wanted to help their voters understand just who they were voting for.
Additionally, Woodall tells us the party has created a Stamp of Approval for primary candidates to indicate whether a given candidate has been deemed worth considering.
