Plans for a residential commercial development in St Joseph township are on hold apparently due to red tape with MDOT.

The development in St. Joseph Township at 1189 Lydia Drive may come to an end after developers have came to a crossroads with government.

At Monday’s monthly meeting, the township’s board of trustees voted and approved a special use request for the owner of Power Strike Fitness on Hilltop Road, Karan Singh. Despite the approval, Singh may look at other locations for the proposed apartment and gym complex due to MDOT’s concerns on the project.

According to the developers, MDOT made it clear that they will not get involved with the project due to traffic and other concerns on Lydia Drive.

At the meeting, the fitness complex owners said that they may look at other locations outside of St. Joseph township to still make this happen.
