Michigan’s small business owners are losing optimism.

According to a new survey from the Small Business Association of Michigan, only 50% of owners feel optimistic about the next six months. That’s down 7% from last year.

President and CEO Brian Calley says inflation remains a top concern.

The rate of inflation may have come down, but the cost pressures of the last two years, those are still very, very present inside businesses,” Calley said.

Calley says long term optimism does remain high. 66% of Michigan small business owners are feeling confident about their chances beyond six months.
