The West Michigan Policy Forum is looking to solve Michigan’s declining population in just nine steps.

Jase Bolger, a West Michigan Policy Forum policy advisor and former Speaker of the Michigan House, has submitted to the state the group’s recommendations and findings from a recent study. He says creating an atmosphere of growth is better than creating incentives.

“As we look at those other states that have no income tax, it’s not that they don’t have funding to fund their government, but they’ve said they’re just not going to tax work, they’re not going to tax their workers,” Bolger said. “So, they’ve created that better environment, created more economic activity, and therefore because of the way they’re structured, they’ve got more stable funding for the state.”

Bolger is hopeful these ideas will be taken seriously in Lansing.

Those recommendations can be found at WMPolicyForum.com.
