It’s a 2,400 mile bike ride across Michigan for a good cause. Michigan Legislative Consultants President Tim Ward started the ride in Detroit and will pedal across the entire Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula to raise awareness and generate donations for Chance For Life, a non-profit that supports people being released from prison.

“Their core members have a recidivism rate of only 6%, and those are just technical violations,” Ward said. “There’s an international group called Leaders Class that has been so impressed by the program over the years that they’ve brought leaders from major corporations in to learn how Chance for Life teaches conflict resolution and mediation.”

The ride started Monday and ends back in Detroit in August 3. Ward says he’ll be stopping along the way to meet with lawmakers about the need to help released convicts get back on their feet. You can donate to “Chance For Life” through its Facebook and other social media pages.
