The Scott Club in South Haven is planning to welcome several guest speakers in the next few months. The club has been holding cultural programs in South Haven since 1883, and it has speakers lined up each month through November. First up on July 18 will be “The Archeology of the Underground Railroad in Southwest Michigan” with Western Michigan University anthropology professor Dr. Michael Nassaney. He’ll talk about his own research into the Underground Railroad in the region. August 1 will feature “I Am the Light”, about the South Haven Lighthouse, with Roger Horton. August 15 will bring “Justice Without Courtrooms: Colonial Era Legislation and the Origins of Judicial Review” with Western Michigan University history professor Sally E. Hadden. Other presentations will focus on climate disinformation, the old West Michigan Pike, the Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society, and viticulture in southwest Michigan. You can find out about attending any program at ScottClub.org.
