As the 2022-23 school year reaches its close, the Lakeshore School district is ramping up work to improve the schools after residents voted in favor of a 19.9 million dollar bond this May.

The board ratified the bond at its regular meeting monday, where Superintendent Greg Eding gave an update on the first project:

“We’ll be starting with the playground updates  Roosevelt and Hollywood, and hope to have those completed by October,” Eding said. “We’ll be publishing a lot of information to the families of the district as the bond projects begin to take shape.”

Eding says there is also work underway on the rooftops at the High School, but those are regularly scheduled maintenance projects and not part of the bond. The bond projects include improvements to parking lots, roof replacement, ADA code compliance upgrades, HVAC upgrades, technology and classroom upgrades and more.

Also Monday, the board accepted bids for upgrades to the elementary audio-visual system, a 2019 10-passenger transit van and a land survey for more upcoming bond projects.
