Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey isn’t the only one retiring from the department soon. He tells us Chief Deputy Robert Boyce is also stepping down.

“I’m going to have my chief deputy retire, so I’ve got to pick a new chief deputy,” Bailey said. “The new chief deputy is going to be Lieutenant Greg Sanders to fill Robert Boyce’s position.”

Sanders worked in the department’s detective bureau. Boyce’s retirement will come at the end of March. Bailey is planning to retire at the end of the year. Berrien County Undersheriff Chuck Heit will seek the position of interim sheriff until the next election, when he says he intends to run for sheriff.
