If you’re sending out holiday mail or packages, you are not alone. This is the busiest week for the U.S. Postal Service, according to spokeswoman Elizabeth Najduch in Detroit. She spoke to Michigan News Network.
“The Postal Service obviously recommends that you ship and mail as early as possible because the longer you wait, the few options you have,” Najduch said.
Nyduch says the Postal Service will process and deliver more than 12 billion pieces of mail from Thanksgiving through the new year. If you want your letters and packages to arrive by Christmas, you need items for retail ground service in the mail by December 15th, first class by December 17th, and for international mail, items have to be mailed by December 13th for most countries.
