Congressman Tim Walberg says a vote by the U.S. House on Tuesday will keep the federal government funded through December while Congress works to complete its fiscal year 2027 spending bills.
The House passed a Senate amendment to H.R. 6500, the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2027. Walberg says the short-term funding measure now provides lawmakers additional time to finish work on the full-year appropriations bills.
“By passing a clean, short term continuing resolution, we prevented another shutdown, protected our national security, and ensured that we can continue to fund vital services for veterans, service members, and Michigan families,” Walberg said.
Walberg blames any impasse over spending on Democrats.
“House Republicans will not allow the obstruction of Senate Democrats to trigger another government shutdown.”
Walberg’s office says House Republicans have advanced all 12 appropriations bills through the Appropriations Committee, with three passing the full House with bipartisan support. The vote comes ahead of the September 30 deadline for federal funding.
